Inspired by many small aircraft flights taken by Allman over remote stretches of Australia, Candescent I captures the saturated vibrancy and fluidity of the wild landscape, a saturation of heat that changes throughout the day as rising and setting light interacts with sky, soil and seed. The strong use of colour responds to the heating up of the Australian landscape, Allman bathes the landscape in cadmium yellow, giving viewers an experience of the intense heat that emanates from Australia’s remote and rugged landscapes.
